이제, 저는 이 뜨거운 예술의 심장부에서, 한미현대예술협회 제14대 회장으로 여러분과 함께 새로운 여정을 시작합니다.

26년의 전통을 자랑하는 미동부 최대 규모의 중견 예술인 단체인 우리 협회는, 지금 변화의 물결 위에 서 있습니다. 이제는 관성에서 벗어나, 창의성과 연결의 힘으로 도약할 때입니다.

저는 이 임기를 통해 세 가지 방향을 중점적으로 추진하고자 합니다.

🔹 KACAL ACADEMY의 본격 출범
줌 강의와 온·오프라인 프로그램을 통해 더 많은 예술가가 함께 배우고, 성장하고, 서로 영감을 주고받을 수 있는 장을 열겠습니다.

🔹 ‘연결’의 플랫폼으로 진화
예술은 혼자가 아니라 함께할 때 빛납니다. 타 한인 단체는 물론, 타문화 예술인 단체들과의 연대를 통해 새로운 전시 기획과 프로젝트를 현실로 만들겠습니다.

🔹 회원 중심의 ‘활력 있는 협회’
회원 한 분 한 분이 협회의 주인공이 될 수 있도록, 소통은 더욱 밀착되고, 참여 기회는 더욱 다양해질 것입니다. 작품 발표뿐 아니라 교양, 워크숍, 피드백 네트워크까지 전방위적인 활동 기반을 다지겠습니다.

지금 이 순간, 우리 협회는 변화의 불씨가 되어 타오를 준비가 되어 있습니다.
예술가의 손끝에서 시작된 하나의 ‘Spark’가 이 도시에, 이 시대에, 새로운 이야기를 만들 수 있기를 진심으로 바랍니다.

Art is a mirror of the times—
And a force that unites us as a community.

Today, I am honored to begin this new journey as the 14th President of the Korean American Contemporary Arts, Ltd. (KACAL), the largest association of mid-career Korean American artists on the East Coast, proudly celebrating its 26th anniversary in 2025.

But we are not here to rest on tradition.
We are here to ignite a bold new chapter—
One driven by creativity, connection, and collective momentum.

During my term, I will focus on three transformative directions:

🔹 Launching KACAL ACADEMY
Through online Zoom lectures and hybrid programming, we will cultivate a space where artists not only learn and grow, but challenge, inspire, and uplift one another.

🔹 Building Bridges Beyond Our Walls
Art thrives through collaboration. By partnering with other Korean American and multicultural arts organizations, we will co-create meaningful exhibitions and cultural projects that break boundaries and expand our reach.

🔹 Energizing a Member-Driven Community
This association belongs to every member. I will ensure more inclusive communication, deeper engagement, and greater opportunities—for artistic expression, cultural enrichment, and professional growth.

Right now, KACAL stands poised to become a spark—
A spark of innovation, passion, and creative leadership that resonates far beyond our immediate circles.

Let us move forward together.
Let us rise together.
Let us set this city ablaze with the brilliance of our art.
